The Skapones are a 2Tone Ska band based in the Tees Valley in England.
The ensemble got together to play a music that they all love, and the chaps intend to perform their hot original 2Tone inspired material and other foot stomping favourite tunes, with the objective of making you dance and smile.
The debut original album of material " Cradle To Grave" was released to critical acclaim in early 2018.
What a fantastic tour of the United States we had. we'd like to thank everyone involved with it from the promoters to our great friends Pam Buckley of Rude Boy George and Greg Last from the Hub City Stompers who played keys for us. We travelled from coast to coast playing in New York and LA where we graced the stage of the world famous Whisky A Go Go club amongst many other things. All the gigs were amazing and thank you so much for everyone's kind words and for buying up all our merchandise! (Cheers to Kristin of the Scotch Bonnets for the t-shirts)
The weather was simply fantastic, the flights were cool, it was one of those rare occasions where everything worked. We had the honour of playing in Brooklyn with internet legend Sal Polichetti of Sonseed and played "Jesus is a friend of Mine", went down a storm! We will one day write up a full blog as there was so much to do and get on with. We loved the USA and met nothing but top people in many areas of the country.
Theres a buzz about us in the States at the moment which is fantastic . long may it continue
We hope you bother with social media to an extent as we are having a quick competition to win 2 free tickets for our show at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Sunday 5th May! Remember this gig is sold out so a rare chance going here!
Renowned and respected ska And reggae forum and internet magazine "Reggae Steady Ska" have recently put together a great little interview with us and its now available online. With questions posed by Charles Benoit of USA Some Ska Band, the interview features The Skapones' Willo, Mark Wilson, John Day and Steve Cummings.
The band who are on the verge of their 40th Anniversary tour, gave us confirmation and go ahead for announcement last Saturday!
There's been a great response to the support slots as well
We will be playing with the 2Tone giants at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Sunday 5th May (EVENT SOLD OUT) and at the beautiful sea front venue in Scarborough , the Royal Spa Theatre on the South Bay front on Monday 6th May. We cannot say how excited we are to be playing with people who have had such a profound effect on our lives but it give sus a great chance to play our album material and to get some great exposure from the 2 dates.
As we say, Middlesbrough is sold out but its worth checking the Specials FB pages and on twitter for resales and also Twickets tickets on twitter. however, we are playing a small set at Crookfest on the early afternoon of Sunday May 5th in County Durham prior to The Specials gig.
The Scarborough gig is close to sell out with only restricted balcony seats available. The link to the Spa tickets is below-
